Futures by Design (FBD) aims to enable less prosperous SMEs in regions of lower economic success, to innovate, grow or increase productivity. SMEs are critical to regional economies but their capacity for success can be limited by insufficient access to data and the inability to analyse data to drive innovation and improved results. FBD aims to strengthen those SMEs and foster innovativeness in the partner regions.
FBD will work with SMEs in partner regions in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Sweden and the United Kingdom, sharing knowledge, ideas and regional experiences to support SMEs to become more data-driven and better informed about the economic, technological, policy and supply changes that will shape their futures. FBD will create a virtual transnational horizon-scanning and knowledge transfer (HSKT) hub connecting 6 hubs in the partner regions to support sustainable SME growth, innovation and productivity.
Sqans is able to help the FBD project in multiple ways. It is the tooling of choice to gather data about the data maturity of the SMEs by providing an easy way to set up and distribute scored surveys. After filling in a questionnaire, SMEs are scored on their Culture, Infrastructure, Resources, Processes and Skills in relation to their Data usage and ranking them to be one out of 5 data maturity levels. The SMEs are able to download their results in a personalized PDF that leaves them with real value, containing dynamic tips on how the SME can improve any of the scored competences.
In a second phase of the FBD project, the partners of FBD actively help with increasing the competences of the SME as well by conducting short Data Science consultancy projects to enhance the data maturity of the SME. In this phase, Sqans works as a lead generation tool. SMEs that have filled in the survey are added as respondent profiles in Sqans, containing a full overview of the results and scores of the SME. Partners have access to a personal dashboard, and can easily select which respondent to follow up on for a consultancy project.
